Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 9, 2026
Gentle Motion ("we", "our", or "us") built Linkr, an app for creating and scanning QR codes. This page describes how we handle your data.
Summary
- We do not display advertisements
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties
- Your QR codes are visible only to you, under your account
- What you scan with the camera stays on your device — scanned content is not uploaded to us
Sign-In
Linkr requires you to sign in with a Google account. We use secure sign-in to identify which QR codes belong to you. When you sign in, we receive:
- Your Google account email address
- A unique user ID
We do not receive your Google password. We do not use your account for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond linking your QR codes to you.
How Your QR Codes Are Stored
When you create or edit a QR code in Linkr, the design and its content are saved to your account so you can access them from any device you sign in on:
- QR codes you create are sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS)
- They are stored on our servers under your account and are only visible to you
- Editable QR codes (where the destination can be changed after printing) resolve through our service so the link continues to work after you update it
- You can delete any QR code from inside the app at any time
We use reasonable security measures to protect your QR codes, but no system can be fully secure.
Camera Scanning — On Device Only
When you use Linkr to scan a QR code, the image is processed entirely on your device:
- The camera feed is read on-device using built-in image recognition
- The decoded content (the URL or text the QR code contains) is shown to you and is not uploaded to our servers
- We do not see what you scan
The Camera permission is requested only when you open the scanner; the camera is never accessed in the background.
Data Stored on Your Device
Your sign-in session and app preferences are stored locally on your device. You can clear this data by signing out or uninstalling the app.
Analytics and Crash Reporting
We collect anonymous usage data to understand how the app is used and to fix bugs. This includes:
- Screen views and feature usage (anonymized)
- Crash reports
Analytics and crash data is processed on our own self-hosted servers and is never shared with third parties. We do not collect personally identifiable information in analytics.
Purchases
Any purchases are handled entirely by the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. We do not collect or store payment information.
Your Rights
You can:
- Sign out of the app at any time
- Delete individual QR codes from inside the app
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data via our account deletion form
- Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data
Children's Privacy
Linkr is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
